海外の紅葉を楽しもう！
日本の10月といえば紅葉シーズン！！
観光地もまた賑わいが出てくる季節ですね。
夏はどこへ行っても暑いし、旅行は涼しくなってから・・・とお考えの方！！
ぜひ海外で紅葉を楽しんでみてはいかがですか？
今回は、講師お勧めの、海外の紅葉スポットをご紹介します！
カナダ メープル街道（Maple Route）
国旗のシンボルにもなっているメープル（楓）の木。
カナダ東部のオンタリオ州とケベック州にまたがる「メープル街道」は、カナダ屈指の紅葉スポットとして有名です。
このエリアに楓の木が多いことからメープル街道と呼ばれていますが、現地では「Heritage Highway（文化遺産の道）」とも言われているそうです。
毎年気候によって変わりますが、9月下旬〜10月中旬くらいまでが見頃。
全長約800kmにわたる観光ルートとなっており、標高などの関係によって場所ごとに紅葉時期が少しずれているんだとか。
緑や紅など、木々の色の移ろいを眺めるのも風情がありますね！
日本の秋よりもかなり寒いので、行く時は冬の装いをお忘れなく！！
アメリカ モホーク・トレイル（Mohawk Trail）
アメリカの紅葉といえば、ニューヨークのセントラルパークも有名ですが、アメリカ出身の講師は、”Mohawk Trail” がお勧めとのこと！
“Mohawk Trai” は元々ネイティブ・アメリカンの貿易ルートとして使われていた道で、マサチューセッツ州の北西部からニューヨーク州北部へ抜ける道路となっています。
紅葉の名所として知られており、9月下旬〜10月中旬のシーズンになると、ハイキングやドライブを楽しむ観光客が多く見られます。
道の両脇に広がる紅葉を眺め、ルート沿いにはレストランやギフトショップなどもあるので、ドライブをじっくり満喫することができそうですね。
クロアチア プリトヴィツェ湖群国立公園（Plitvice Lakes）
クロアチアの首都ザグレブから南に位置する、世界遺産にも登録されている国立公園です。
広大な森林には16の湖と92の滝が点在しており、ハイキングでも人気の観光地となっています。
10月下旬頃になると、紅葉とエメラルドグリーンの湖を望める絶景が堪能できます。
ヨーロッパには紅葉を楽しむ文化があまりないそうで、観光シーズンからはずれた秋は、人が少なくゆったり景観を楽しむことができるそうです。
また講師曰く、秋だけでなく冬もお勧めとのこと！
雪が積もると、一面真っ白の幻想的な銀世界が広がります。
しっかりとした防寒対策が必要ですが、美しさで寒さも忘れてしまいそうですね！

リュウ・コウギン
中国語担当 ＠なんば校
台湾の台南市出身。
大学では観光学を専攻し、台湾の旅行会社で観光アテンドや広報の仕事に従事。
日本居酒屋で働いた時に文化や日本人のやさしさに惹かれ、また日本のドラマもよく観ていたのが来日のきっかけ。
来日後はレストランや空港で勤務していました。
講師としての経験もあり、ツールとしての言語だけでなく、台湾や中国の文化を伝えるレッスンが得意です。
甘いスイーツと辛いグルメが大好き！！
趣味は絵を描くことで、台湾で絵も学んでいたそうです。
台湾の観光や食べ物にも詳しいので、たくさんお話ししましょう！
キム・ユヒョン
韓国語担当 ＠梅田校
ソウル出身の都会っ子。
グローバルな人材として活躍したく、日本語を学びながらカナダへ語学留学も経験しました。
2017年に、ずっと憧れだった日本に移住。得意な語学を活かし、ホテルマンとして活躍していました。
周りに、韓国の文化や言語に興味がある人が多く、自分の語学学習経験・ルーツを活かしたいと思い韓国語教員資格を取得。講師になる事を決めました。
趣味は、カフェ巡り・観葉植物・インテリア。グルメ好きで、食べ物の話題はつきないとの事。
言語習得は『挑戦』であり、『楽しい』ことでもあります。

今月のリーディングチャレンジ”The Beach:French style”
Last August Vincent and his daughter went to the beach.
They invited friends and cousins to enjoy a beautiful day together.
Damien (Vincent’s cousin) drove for about an hour, and everybody arrived in La Grande Motte (a popular resort in the South of France).
They all used sunscreen, though the heat wasn’t a problem.
Without sunscreen, you might get a sunburn, so it’s strongly recommended.
As you will see in the video below, boys and girls enjoyed sunbathing! In Japan, you would have to be crazy to sunbathe in summer; in France, it’s normal!
When everybody was ready, they finally entered the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
It’s very salty! Don’t drink it. 😉
After a nice bath, they took a shower to remove the salt and sand.
Finally, everyone enjoyed a delicious ice cream or a fizzy drink (Cola, Fanta,…).
Vocabulary:
・Sunscreen: a cream or lotion to protect the skin from the sun.
・Sunburn: too much sunlight causing damage to the skin.
・Sunbathing: the act of sitting or lying in the sun to make your skin darker.
今月のリーディングチャレンジ”I want to fall forward”
In a commencement speech, Denzel Washington addressed the crowd as follows: “I’m sure people have told you to make sure you have something to fall back on.
Make sure you got something to fall back on, honey. But I never understood that concept, having something to fall back on.
If I’m going to fall, I don’t want to fall back on anything except my faith.
I want to fall forward. I figure at least this way, I’ll see what I’m going to hit.”
Have you ever received the above advice (to have something to fall back on; see definition below)?
In a country where people usually save 70% of their income, it’s very likely.
More importantly, do you agree with Denzel or not?
Should we indefinitely save money, purchase all kinds of insurance, use GPS trackers for children, get an Apple Watch to recover our lost Iphones, or carry unnecessary medicine while traveling…?
Or, perhaps we should act more spontaneously?
Of course, it’s not all black or white; but where or when should we stop being overly cautious?
Yes, a GPS tracker in your child’s bag puts you at ease, but it doesn’t mean that your child won’t be in any trouble.
Or are you simply spending money to ease your worries?
Thinking about your life, your career, your pension, … how do you approach it?
Aren’t you overpreparing? Even small things could be done differently.
Couldn’t you use the vacation days the Japanese government has given you the right to take?
Couldn’t you wear the hair color you like at work?
Couldn’t you leave home without locking the door?
If in 2023, prisoners still can escape from US penitentiaries, I fear our locks won’t be sufficient.
Shouldn’t we simply take it day by day and stop worrying about every little thing, make the best of every experience without thinking about the possible dangers? Who knows?!
